RLO adopts a stumbling stone (Stolperstein)
Staff members at Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest have collectively raised funds to sponsor a stumbling stone (Stolperstein). These stones, made of concrete and brass, are placed in front of the last known homes of individuals who were killed during the Second World War.
In collaboration with the Oegstgeest Commemoration and Celebration Committee, the history department selected Henk de Veer. His story reminds us of the war’s impact on ordinary residents of our municipality, you can read his story here .
As a school, we believe it is important to reflect on this history. We therefore intend to hold an annual commemoration with our students at Henk de Veer’s Stolperstein, located at Hofbrouckerlaan 8 in Oegstgeest.
